The signwriter reviews his work. He exists somewhere between the beginning and the end of the conclusion he has been chasing: finished. Secretly though, nothing ever has, nor ever will be “finished”, so he, the signwriter, simply exists, standing there, one foot on the bottom rung of a ladder.
